Teaching Areas

ABA Classroom delivers medical treatment service to children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders. We use precision teaching, focussing on increasing verbal behavior and social skills and decreasing challenging behaviours that can be symptomatic with a diagnosis of ASD.

We focus on the following areas of development:

Many children with ASD need help in learning how to act in different types of social situations. They often have the desire to interact with others, but may not know how to engage friends or may be overwhelmed by the idea of new experiences.

Building up social skills with practice can help enhance participation in the community and support outcomes like happiness and friendships.

Autistic children can find it hard to relate to and communicate with other people. They might be slower to develop language, have no language at all, or have significant problems with understanding or using spoken language.

Teaching children with ASD to improve their communication skills is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

It’s common for children with autism to have difficulty with fine and gross motor skills, such as writing, running or throwing a ball. We help develop these skills through positive reinforcement and a playful environment.

Challenging behaviors represent some of the most concerning and stressful features of autism. We work to prevent problematic behaviors by promoting positive behavioral changes.

Teaching Methods

At ABA Classroom, we offer a variety of training methods tailored to each child’s unique needs.

TAGteach, short for Teaching with Acoustical Guidance, is a powerful method based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). It uses positive reinforcement and a distinct sound signal (a “tag”) to help children learn new skills more quickly and effectively.

Here’s how it works: a handheld device emits a short sound (the “tag”) the moment a child performs the correct action. This instant feedback, paired with a reward like praise, tokens, or treats, lets the child know they’ve done something right. Because TAGteach provides immediate and precise reinforcement, children are able to focus, repeat the correct behavior, and achieve success faster.

This method is particularly beneficial for children with autism, as it breaks learning into small, manageable steps and offers clear, consistent feedback. TAGteach has been successfully used to teach a variety of skills, from communication to daily living tasks.
